Belarusian Union of Women

The public association "Belarusian Union of Women" was established on December 14, 1991. On a voluntary basis, it unites women's councils created in all regions, districts, cities, in many labor collectives and educational institutions and at the place of residence.

At present more than 183 thousand women are members of the union, there are over four thousand primary organizations. The supreme body of the "Belarusian Union of Women" is a conference that meets at least once every 5 years. In the period between conferences, the permanent governing body is the Board of the Belarusian Union of Journalists, the executive body is the Presidium of the Belarusian Union of Journalists.

Goals and objectives of the BUW:

  • raising the status of women in society, their role in all areas of the country's life;
  • achievement of civil accord in society, peace between peoples, elimination of all forms of violence and discrimination;
  • organization of educational and consulting activities;
  • promoting the protection and improvement of women's health, improving the quality of life of all citizens of the republic;
  • carrying out charitable activities;
  • protection of the rights of women, children, strengthening the family;
  • implementation of international activities using the methods of women's diplomacy.

The primary organization "Belarusian Union of Women" of JSC "Skidel Sugar Refinery" is headed by Elena Anatolyevna Slepchenko
